Here's To Less Fear In The Brand New Year

HERE'S TO LESS FEAR IN THE BRAND NEW YEAR

There once was a forecaster in Dallas,
Who said, “Eighty-six—what a palace!”
Now maps flash with warnings
And folks stay inside,
Afraid of the heat or a malice.

Eighties kids set off small bangs,
With parents nearby, hearing clangs.
Now all of those sparks
Are banned in our parks,
And backyards sit silent with pangs.

A kid used to climb fifteen feet
A tree mighty high, mighty neat
Now parents they shout
“Come down, you get out!
And miss all the view and the sweet."

For ’26, here is a cheer,
May we all be a bit, well,  more dear.
Climb higher, run fast,
Embrace life to the last,
And let go of your worry and fear.

Happy New Year!
Blue

  1. You're right. Everyone is in uber-protective and safe mode. Kids are raised in a bubble. Hey, I played with Lawn Darts and rode my bike without a helmet and I lived!
    Happy New Year, Blue.

  3. I used to climb trees high and low
    conversing with the black crows
    sometimes I hung upside down
never fearing falling on the ground

I just wanted to touch the blue sky
and I knew I just had to give it a try
    embracing the day watching clouds
    enjoying what time once allowed

    Happy New Year Blue
    from me to you!

    enjoyed your post
    now lets have a toast

    Cheers....

    1. Hello True!
      How are you?
      It's been a while
      My work's a pile
      My health a drag
      My money bag
      An empty one
      Such fun
      But we soldier on
      That's what we do

    2. Hey Blue!

      It's been a while
      you made me smile
      I had that super flu
how I got it I've no clue
need to fill that money bag
a fortune you need to snag
our dreams were a once upon
tell me where is that magic wand
may 2026 be filled with happiness
      instead of all life's crappiness
      Solder on, my friend
      until the story ends...

      peace and light

    3. Soldier on we will
      Like paying an endless bill
      That feels like overkill
      Not a thrill
      But let's raise that glass
      Better than breaking your ass
Pardon my French and Swedish too

  7. So many different shades of fear colour our lives these days, oh, Randy, oh hunky Mandy, what are we to do? Did you find a new job or are you still at the old University? Hope new year will be at least peaceful but it looks like it will not be anything close to that.
Stay hot and bothered and here is to at least a better health in the year 2026. 2025 ended with some health problems for me, even lost about four kilos during that hell, but at least I am slimmer now, not that anyone notices it....

    1. Staying put as being 55 means you're old, inclusive as societies pretend to be these days. It's all a load of you-know-what. Hang in there, okay? 2025 was a horrendous year healthwise. But am I mistaken or did you lose a couple of pounds in my absence?

  8. One of my favorite things to do as a kid was climb the big tree in our school's front yard. Sometimes with my best friend and sometimes by myself. It was a great tree. These days I'd be scared of the ants getting on me. :). Happy New Year, Blue!
