Beneath The Leafy Light

BENEATH THE LEAFY LIGHT

Light drifts across the softly set lawn,
Faces shine in joy that touches all.
Tables adorned beneath the bright sky drawn,
A mother’s pride reflected in her call.

Soft laughter hums beneath the leafy light,
He sits, content, absorbed in what will be,
The stories told bring gentle smiles so bright,
While shadows linger quietly nearby.

And so I move, both present and apart,
A silent weight pressed deep within my heart.

  2. It started well and finished so gloomy or shall I say bluishgrumpsterish. But at least mummy is proud of you, mine has always been evilish.

    1. Dear Lord, Dezzy! Funny and sad. To laugh or not to laugh...

  3. Hi Blue! Beautiful poem. I wish I could see my lawn right now. Adam up there bitching about his southern winter storm while us up north are driving on sheets of ice. With it being so cold, they say salt won't even make a difference at this point. My gas bill was $700 this month. If anyone needs summer light, it's me. I'm drowning in winter these days.

    1. I hear ya, Theresa. It's been a while since we've seen so much snow and ice. May spring come knocking on our door a bit sooner this time around. Thanks for stopping by.

  4. Blue, that was beautiful.
We don't get snow like a lot of the commenters so Winter has been gentle here. I hope things are good for you.

    1. Well, I'm fed up jobwise, my health still sucks a ton but... I'm pretty happy otherwise. Thanks for reading my poem.

    2. Sorry to hear that. But I'm glad you're pretty happy other than those things. That's an upside for sure.

    3. I'm a happily married guy. What more does a Grumpster want, right? Have a great day, Mary.

  5. A beautiful poem Blue! Its moving, but there is a sense of sadness in between the lines. (maybe, its just me)

I am tired of winter my friend
    wondering when spring will begin
let this snowy freezing cold end

let the stories touch your heart
like a precious piece of art...

    peace and leafy light
